Committee Job Description – Membership Development Officer (Executive Officer)


On behalf of the Executive Committee of Chelmsford and District Hospital Broadcasting Service,

the Membership Development Officer (MDO) is responsible for ensuring all trainees and members

develop the skills and competencies required to deliver the radio service and other activities

organised by the charity. He/she should do this in a way which aligns with the charitable aims and

will lead the Duty Officers to achieve this aim.


  • Manage the Duty Officer team to ensure they are providing leadership, training, guidance and personal management so the nightly teams deliver the service specified by the Executive Committee. Part of this is to ensure Duty Officers are given the training they themselves needto hold the required levels of skills and competencies
  • Deal with new membership enquiries
  • Organise intro nights and selection interviews
  • Pass on joining forms to secretary, other forms into hospital admin system.
  • Seek references for new trainees
  • Ensure the collection of trainee membership fees during the joining process.
  • Liaise with trainee members over their progress.
  • Co-ordinate trainee’s induction onto evening’s team.
  • Encourage that all trainee members are trained and seek Full membership within 12 months.
  • Liaise with external training organisations (i.e. Duke of Edinburgh, Chelmsford Volunteers etc)
